Five expert groups. One national agenda.

The AI Wales Councils bring together sector leaders, policymakers, and technologists to drive responsible AI adoption across Wales's key economic sectors.

Each council is aligned to one of Welsh Government's economic priority areas, ensuring that AI Wales activity directly supports national economic development objectives. Council members shape sector-specific guidance, identify common challenges, and collaborate on solutions that benefit the entire Welsh ecosystem.

Whether you're a FTSE-listed enterprise exploring AI strategy, an SME looking for practical implementation guidance, or a researcher seeking industry collaboration — the councils provide a platform for meaningful engagement with peers facing similar challenges.

How councils work

Quarterly Roundtables

Each council meets quarterly for structured roundtable discussions. Sessions include sector updates, member case studies, regulatory briefings, and working group reports. Roundtables are facilitated to ensure all voices are heard and actionable outcomes emerge.

Working Groups

Between formal meetings, working groups tackle specific challenges. Recent examples include an FCA AI guidance working group in Fintech, a CNI security working group in Cybersecurity, and an AgriTech connectivity working group in Agriculture.

Vendor Showcases

Councils provide a platform for AI vendors to demonstrate solutions to qualified buyers. Showcases are curated to match sector needs, giving members early access to relevant technologies without sales pressure.

Policy Engagement

Councils feed into Welsh Government policy development, regulatory consultations, and national AI strategy. Council chairs represent sector perspectives in conversations with Welsh Government, Innovate UK, and other national bodies.
