About Pontiro

Pontiro is an independent evaluation company for healthcare AI. We work with hospitals, healthcare providers and AI vendors to understand how AI tools perform in real clinical settings. We also build anonymisation tooling for medical imaging and clinical data, allowing organisations to use it for research and development while protecting patient privacy.

We are a startup based in Newport, South Wales, with platforms already running in live healthcare environments. The team is small and growing, and there is considerable scope to shape both the product and the way we build it.

The role

We are hiring a Software Engineer to help build and scale our evaluation and anonymisation platforms. You will work closely with our Chief Technology Officer on the systems that process clinical data, run evaluations and deliver results to customers.

This is a broad engineering role with significant ownership. You will work across the stack, from data processing and APIs through to reporting interfaces and production deployment, and you will see the direct effect of your work in live healthcare environments.

What you will do

  • Design, build and maintain the Python services and APIs at the core of our platform
  • Work with clinical imaging data and healthcare interoperability standards
  • Build reporting and dashboard functionality that presents results clearly to clinical and governance audiences
  • Develop monitoring and alerting so that issues are identified early
  • Support deployment into customer environments and keep the platform performing reliably in production
  • Produce clear technical documentation for internal and customer use

About you

  • Strong commercial Python experience
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining APIs
  • Confident working with third-party systems and integrations
  • Sound engineering practice, including unit testing and continuous integration
  • Clear technical writing, with documentation that others have relied on
  • Able to work from our Newport office on a hybrid basis, with occasional travel to customer sites

Desirable

  • Medical imaging standards such as DICOM, or healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR
  • Experience in healthcare or another regulated industry
  • Data analysis
  • AI or machine learning pipelines
  • Cloud infrastructure

We do not expect candidates to arrive with medical imaging expertise. Structured support is provided to develop it.

What we offer

  • Company pension scheme
  • Hybrid working
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays
  • On-site parking
  • Significant ownership and scope within a growing, well-funded company
  • Work with direct clinical impact, across healthcare providers and AI vendors
